TAMBOPATA - MACAW CLAY LICK (2 Days / 1 Night)

Reception at the airport or bus terminal and go the office to get registrations. If you have large suitcases, we suggest repacking and taking only what is necessary. Transfer by land (4X4) to our destination for approximately 2 hours until we reach the shores of the Tambopata River. From there, we will take a boat to the "Monte Amazónico - Tambopata" Lodge. Welcome and room assignment, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we will take an introductory walk in the tropical rainforest, where we will have the opportunity to see animals in their natural habitat, such as amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and wonderful insects, among others.

We wake up early at 4:30 am to head towards the largest macaw clay lick in the world, the CHUNCHO CLAY LICK, a trip of approximately 1.5 hours by boat. On the way, we will have the incredible opportunity to see some species like capybaras, the largest rodents in the world, tapirs, and possibly the most beautiful South American feline, the jaguar. Many of our clients have photographic evidence of encounters with these beautiful mammals. Once we arrive at the Macaw Clay Lick, we will see hundreds of parrots of different species that come to eat the clay from the wall adjacent to the river. We will settle into our seats to wait for one of the most beautiful natural birdwatching spectacles in the world to begin. Parrots are followed by the three most colorful macaw species in America: the red and green macaws, and the blue and yellow macaws, which gather to eat the clay necessary in their daily diet to eliminate toxins. On a good activity day, you will see hundreds of these wonderful animals flying above you. An experience of a lifetime. We return to our lodge, have breakfast, and rest. Later, we will take a walk through our botanical garden where we can appreciate some fruit, timber, and medicinal species from our area, accompanied by our guide. Our boat will take us back to Puerto Maldonado, retracing the same route. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, we will transfer to the terminal or airport.
